North Western Regional Office
Located in Derry~Londonderry, our North Western Regional Office works with businesses in the Derry City & Strabane and Causeway Coast & Glens council areas.
As well as working with local businesses, the team has strong partnership relationships with stakeholders in the area to help drive economic development.
The team works with businesses ranging from new start-ups to established businesses looking to grow exports. Sectors of focus within the region include: Agri-Food, Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing and Financial, Professional & Business Services.
North Western Regional Office supported business performance
Our support over the last five years, combined with the investments by local and international businesses, has the potential to realise investment of £333m in the region, and to create 2,826 new jobs.

Derry City & Strabane District Council
We have a long-standing relationship with Derry City & Strabane District Council and are an active partner in supporting the delivery of the Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan. As part of this we work closely with the council to promote the area to potential investors, along with helping local companies grow.
Over the last five years we have offered £40m of supported to 322 businesses based in the District Council area. This support has the potential to generate nearly £232m of investment and the creation of 1,787 new jobs.
In the most recent year we offered almost £3m of support to businesses in the area. This, combined with company investment, will potentially realise a total investment of £12m in the local economy.

Our support included £940,000 of Local Economic Development funding to the council to develop a range of key programmes to meet local business needs.
Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council
As a Statutory Partner in Causeway Coast and Glens Community Plan, we are committed to working in partnership with Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council to help businesses grow and compete globally.
Between 2017-18 and 2021-22 we provided support of £20m to 299 businesses based in the council area. Together with the investments made by the businesses themselves, this has the potential to generate £101m of investment and create 1,040 new jobs in the area.
We've seen a strong increase in investment by local and externally owned companies in the Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing sector, over £5m in the last year.

Our support included over £1m of Local Economic Development funding to the council to develop a range of key programmes to meet local business needs. This support was part funded by ERDF, under the Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme 2014-2020.
Entrepreneurship
We are keen to hear from entrepreneurs who want to start, build or scale new businesses or ideas; so if you have an idea for a new business, a new product, service, business model or a new market opportunity, the North Western Regional Office can help. We provide advice, guidance and financial assistance to support entrepreneurs through the business development process from ideation through to commercialisation.
We also work in partnership with councils, local enterprise agencies, accelerators and further education colleges, providing early stage business startups with a growth pathway that ensures access to the right advice and support at each crucial stage of development

Invest Northern Ireland support
We work directly and indirectly with businesses across Northern Ireland.
Our approach to supporting businesses is based on three key elements:
- Providing information and advice, directly and through a range of information services
- Providing support to people wanting to set up their own business and helping new and existing businesses grow and move into new markets
- Providing tailored support to businesses that can make the greatest contribution to increasing productivity, innovation and export growth in Northern Ireland
Regional Manager - Des Gartland
Des Gartland is the Invest Northern Ireland North Western Regional Office Manager. He has been in the role since 2008 and prior to this, spent 13 years in the private sector.
